Most toll roads around Disney World are cashless, and a transponder costs less per trip than a bill by mail. Two agencies run them, the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, and a few roads switch from one to the other partway along.
Which toll roads are near Disney World?
| Road | Who runs it, per each agency's rate schedule |
|---|---|
| SR 429 (Western Beltway) | Florida's Turnpike from I-4 to Seidel Road, then CFX farther north |
| SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay) | Florida's Turnpike from I-4 to Osceola Parkway, then CFX farther east |
| Florida's Turnpike (SR 91) | Florida's Turnpike |
| SR 528 (Beachline) | Florida's Turnpike on the west end from I-4, with a CFX share of that main toll, then CFX farther east |
| SR 538 (Poinciana Parkway) | CFX |
| I-4 Express | FDOT, in Orlando starting just west of Kirkman Road |
CFX is an independent state agency serving Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties, and it says its system runs on tolls, not state or local tax dollars.
How do you pay tolls?
SunPass. Florida's prepaid toll program. A transponder in your vehicle is read at the toll point and the toll comes out of your account. Florida's Turnpike says SunPass customers always pay the lowest toll available on Florida's toll roads and bridges.
E-PASS. CFX's own prepaid program. CFX says it's accepted on toll roads in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina that show E-PASS, SunPass, LeeWay, Peach Pass or NC Quick Pass signs. Florida's Turnpike lists E-PASS among the transponders it accepts.
TOLL-BY-PLATE (Florida's Turnpike). With no accepted transponder, a camera records the plate and the registered owner gets a Toll Enforcement Invoice covering 30 days of tolls, plus a $2.50 administrative charge. The Turnpike says cash isn't accepted at its electronic toll locations.
Pay By Plate (CFX). A camera records the plate and a monthly invoice goes to the registered owner. CFX says Pay By Plate rates are double the electronic rate, and payment is due within 30 days. Its July 2026 rate chart lists only an electronic rate and a Pay By Plate rate.
What do tolls cost right now?
Here are posted two-axle rates for main toll points on the roads above, from each agency's current schedule:
| Toll point | Road and operator | Transponder | By plate | Rate effective |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Western Beltway Plaza | SR 429, Florida's Turnpike | $1.16 | $1.45 | February 21, 2025 |
| Independence Main Plaza | SR 429, CFX | $1.72 | $3.44 | July 1, 2026 |
| Celebration Plaza | SR 417, Florida's Turnpike | $0.86 | $1.16 | February 21, 2025 |
| John Young Main Plaza | SR 417, CFX | $1.72 | $3.44 | July 1, 2026 |
| Beachline West Mainline Plaza, total | SR 528, Turnpike and CFX | $2.24 | $2.54 | July 1, 2026 |
| Marigold Main Plaza | SR 538, CFX | $2.22 | $4.44 | July 1, 2026 |
| Orlando (I-4) interchange | Florida's Turnpike | $0.58 | $0.86 | August 14, 2026 |
A commute can pass several toll points, and ramps carry their own tolls. CFX's 2017 toll policy also adjusts its rates every year by 1.5 percent or the annual Consumer Price Index, so check both schedules for your exact route.
What is I-4 Express?
I-4 Express is FDOT's set of tolled lanes in the middle of I-4, two each way, running 21 miles through Orlando from just west of Kirkman Road. Tolls are dynamic: they change through the day by segment, rising as more vehicles enter and falling as traffic thins. FDOT says the toll on the sign is the most you'll pay for that trip, and it can be as low as 50 cents per segment.
You need SunPass or another Florida-accepted transponder, including E-PASS. Only two-axle vehicles are allowed, and trailers aren't. FDOT says a driver without a transponder is billed by mail with a $2.50 administration fee added.
What is FDOT doing on I-4 near Disney World?
In late April 2025, FDOT opened one more lane in each direction on I-4 from U.S. 27 in Polk County to World Drive in Osceola County, eight months ahead of schedule. In December 2025, FDOT said about 140,000 daily travelers use that stretch and that their travel times dropped by half.
FDOT is also preparing projects along the 14 miles from U.S. 27 to S.R. 536 in Orange County, with two new express lanes and one general use lane in each direction. Its release gave no completion date.
